MapDispatch.com is an online matching service. We match movers with people who need to hire them, whom we call dispatchers. MapDispatch.com dramatically simplifies the process of finding a mover by giving dispatchers a way to "make an offer" to dozens of movers without obligation or committment.
Our site intermediates the transportation of a range of items from parcels, tickets, and packages, to furniture and people, to apartments and homes. Our objective is to help you find trustworthy movers, who can help you get what you need moved, in a safe and responsible manner.
There are three steps.
First, under the "find a mover" tab, complete information about your move, give us your contact information, name your price, and post your move. Your move will be listed in open status.
Second, a mover will find your move, and request to perform it. This request will be sent to you via email. Your move will be in pending status while waiting for your reply. No other movers will be able to request it during this time.
Finally, following a link embedded in the email, review the request from the mover and accept or deny it. It is only when you accept the request that we will ask for your credit card information and you will be charged for our fee. Pay the balance to the mover in person. Your move will now be in progress.
Use the rating system. Our website is designed to let the community police itself. Before accepting an offer to perform your move, look at the person’s rating. After the move is done, leave a review of the mover.
If the request comes from a "new mover" you might want to use the site to send him a message to see if he has referrals from previous work.
By default movers should not be expected to do either. Unless otherwise stated, movers will only expect to help load and unload your items into their vehicle.
If you need additional packing/assembly help, make sure to explicitly state it in your move description - that way movers can accurately assess your move and price offered.. Otherwise, please make sure to have everything "ready to go" before the mover arrives. If your item(s) necessitate two people, and you are unable to assist in the loading and unloading, you should request "2 or more" movers for your move.
No, our site makes no claim as to licensing or insurance of the movers. We do collect a credit card and/or other equivalent documentation from each mover, to verify the accuracy of their name, and address. Nevertheless, keep in mind MapDispatch is a matching service only – please see our Terms of Use (TOU) for more info.
The easiest answer to this is to go with the suggested amount, calculated based on the information provided. If the move is particularly difficult, consider adding a premium. If, for example, you need a move completed today, or if you live three stories up and there is no elevator, you’ll be more likely to find an interested mover by offering a premium. Alternatively, if you think the price is too high, feel free to offer less.
The suggested prices are generated based on a proprietary algorithm calibrated to match the market price. The objective is to balance the demand from dispatchers for a low price, with that from movers for a high price. MapDispatch has no interest in keeping the price high or low. The suggested price really is our best guess for what movers will require for your move.
Yes, you can edit the move provided it is still in open status. To do so, go to your account page, select the link for that move, select "edit", and change the details.
Once a request has been sent to you and the status is pending you can use the request page to suggest a different pickup time. For other last minute changes/requests, use the email function on that same page to contact the mover and confirm the change is acceptable.
Once you have received and confirmed a request, you will be sent the contact information of the mover, so if you need to make an adjustment in the pickup time, contact the mover at the number/email provided.
If you are the dispatcher, and would like to completely cancel your move, please contact the mover and MapDispatch at least an hour prior to pickup. Your MapDispatch account standing may be adversely affected if your cancellation rate becomes excessive.
If you are the mover, and you need to cancel, make sure to contact the dispatcher and MapDispatch as soon as possible. Your account standing may be adversely affected if your cancellation rate becomes excessive.
Email cancellations and requests for refunds to: admin@mapdispatch.com.
If a mover cancels or "no shows" your move, MapDispatch will fully refund our commission. We will also not permit movers who cancel excessively to continue to use the service.

To perform moves and become a mover, you need to register your information, find moves that you would like to perform, and whose price is acceptable, and begin requesting them. As you build a reputation, you will find your requests being accepted (or rejected) more frequently.
If you have few, or no ratings, make sure to reassure dispatchers in the "message" section as to your experience, reliability, and general worthiness as a mover, in order to overcome their uncertainty.
You will be paid directly by the original dispatcher. Please make sure to arrange payment details with them ahead of time.
MapDispatch collects a small fee from the dispatcher once they have accepted a request. The mover is paid his/her fee in person by the dispatcher. Please see our fee schedule, for more specifc information about how our fee is calculated.
Importantly, movers are not permitted to request additional compensation, above the mutually agreed price, for performing the move, nor are dispatchers permitted to request additional work, not initially agreed upon. Violation of this policy will result in negative ratings and/or the removal of the mover/dispatcher account from the site.
